Tried house hacking, ran the numbers a hundred ways and finally landed on buying a duplex where my brother is moving in. He covers his half, giving me steady income while I build equity. Have others done something similar when getting started?

Smart move.. I've seen others do the same to offset their mortgage and build equity early on. Pretty solid strategy, especially when you trust your tenant and can count on consistent payments. Good job.

Appreciate it man. Having my brother as a tenant makes the whole setup a lot smoother, and the steady income is a huge plus. Have you tried house hacking yourself, or just seen others make it work?

Hah, love this setup @grumpy sir. Having family onboard definitely makes the first step less stressful. Did you guys work out a formal lease, or just keep it casual between you two?
