I've always thought that real estate should be more than just looking at square footage and market prices. The best developments are the ones that truly make a difference in the lives of the people who call them home.

Not long ago, I discovered a developer who's transforming an old textile mill into mixed-income housing complete with a community garden. Then there's another initiative turning vacant lots into farmers markets run by local youth. It really hit me just how rewarding it is to see projects that allow the community to have a say in the final result.

That textile mill conversion and the youthrun farmers markets are prime examples of community led or community-informed design.
When residents have a genuine say in shaping their environment, you get spaces that are not only functional but also deeply rooted in local needs and aspirations. It fosters a sense of ownership and pride that you just don't get from topdown projects

Not me personally, but one of my clients built 27 townhomes in South Carolina to offer affordable, furnished housing for nurses and traveling professionals. He was among the first developers to kickstart the area's revival, and now its really taking off.
